I am about to purchase the K&N air filyr kit ( 57-3036) that replaces the oem air box. I am only doing this because I am unable to keet the clips locked on the oem box.
I have read on the board about some of these kits placing the filter so low that they can pick up water and hydro lock the motor.
Anyone know it this K&N kit is one of those. From the photos it doesn't look that low.
I've got the K&N kit on mine...happy and no problems at all.
You have to cut plastic radiator cover, which allows the unit to clear the hood and also allow cool air into the space.
Been in the rain a few times (unfortunately) and I checked it afterwards...was fine.
The stock box is soooooooooo restrictive I don't know how the LS1 breathes...like an elaphant running full speed and breathing thru a straw!
Let me know if you need help with the install.
18.57 on the dyno according to K&N
Thanks guys. Also, if I take you up on your offer to help with the install, when you fly from Pa to Ca to help, I will let you take it up on the big track and make laps with it when we are done.
I read on this forum some where if the clips keep on coming undone you could put fuel line cut in half under the straps to tighten them up. I just did the zip tie mod and it works just fine.
