I was thinking a guy is selling a 01 Z06 if he had the dealer window sticker what would i look for to be sure it is a Z06? besides badges. That and for kicks i priced out a new one on the chevrolet site. For a nicely equipped regular vette they wanted $47 for a base z06 with everything i would want anyway is $50 for an extra $3,000 why not go Z06?
I don't know exactly what the window sticker says .. come to think of it, I never really looked at mine. However, I'd expect it to indicate 385HP (if it's an 01) or 405HP (for an '02) It would be listed as a Z06. It would have red brake calipers. Basically, if it's a 2001 or 2002 and it's a FRC, it's a Z06.
As for your other question ... I agree. Why not get the Z? If you are most interested in performance, you have to get the Z. If you want a telescoping steering wheel, electric passenger seat, twilight sentinel or a few other goodies, you'll have to get a coupe or vert since they're not available on the Z.
If you want to make sure its a Z06 check the vin number. The 8th digit should be an S for the LS6 engine which only comes in the Z06 at this time. The 10th digit is the model year 1 for 2001, 2 for 2002.
