Its hard to stop the wheel spin, Those are some good times you are getting.....Now if you went with ET streets, you prob wouldnt wheel spin much but might chance of snapping something.....Keep it up man.....doing good I think

You should get no noticeable wheelspin on the 1-2. Ther most likely cause is not doing a proper burnout.
If you do a big burnout and you still get wheelspin then either your tires are shot or your psi is too high.

Don't shortshift, you will lose et.
On street tires you could shift slightly slower on the 1-2 but not earlier.
My car should be ready in a few days and I need to break in the clutch, so maybe I'll join you at etown next time out.

17 sounds fine for etown. I ran them as low as 14. The tires are just getting broken in.
Try going down just 1 psi and do a bigger burnout.
I would go thru the water box with the bfg's.
Launchin' at 4k is a good starting point. Just be sure to know exactly what rpm you launched at and the exact tire pressure. Then on the next run you can adjust accordingly. Make small adjustments. Your doing well, get some more seat time.
