Just installed my B&M short throw shifter this morning. WOW, what a difference!! Its a lil stiff but, hardly have to move your hand to shift now. Took me 45 minutes to install. What a great upgrade. If you have thought of doing this all i can say is GO FOR IT!
I don't know why some of you guys are getting transmisssion noise. This baby is just like stock except for the obvious. No extra noise at all for me. Maybe it was something you did on install (no offense). The install actually was really easy too, except for the little pin in the top of the ****. I think all corvettes should have this shifter, its perfect for these cars.

I'm not sure how you could install it wrong, it's pretty straight forward.

I correctly installed one in my 02 Z four years ago. They transfer synchro and other tranny vibrational noises into the interior of the car, especially in the winter time. In the summer they quiet down for the most part, but they are still noiser than OEM. The noise is why GM does not make this type of shifter standard. The flimsy construction of the OEM shifter apparently absorbs or prevents the tranny noises from being transferred into the interior. Two redesigns later (05 C6 and 08 C6), the shifter is still not as solid and quick as the B&M, but GM has figured out a way to shorten the throws and still retain very low noise. My wife and son hate this shifter, but I dont mind it (I dont love it either). The B&M ripper in my 95 is much more enjoyable to shift (and is noiser than the OEM also).
