you can check prices and sizes on The Tire Rack website. Last time I looked, fronts were $300 and rears were about $335.

Plan on $1000 minimum installed to $1600 max for F1SC or PS2.

I'm in the market for tires right now. I've been reading and posting on here... and right now I have it narrowed down to two tires: Michelin PS2or Nitto R 2 Extreme. I guess both have pros and cons. PS2 probably handles water a lot better, but would also be $200-$300 more than R2's. I certainly want some kind of "road hazard" protection plan, and both Discount Tire and Tire Rack has this. I read something about the R2 tires needing to have "heat cycling" to get the most performance. Do they do that at Discount Tire when you order them?

So gimme some opinions. The GS-D3 seems pretty cool (and popular), but I don't care much about the looks with the V tread pattern. Would using a 275/40 in front and 305/35 in rear with the Nittos cause any problems with AH or TC? I've read some on here saying mismatched sizes outside of stock sizes can cause problems. Also I'm concerned that the Michelins have goofy looking "rim protectors" that stick way out. The pictures of the tire on Tire Rack don't show this, but I've seen them in person and it's a silly look. Maybe they had the wrong size of tire?

I'm up for suggestions. Thanks!

I am very happy with my Goodyear GS-D3 and i think they handle extremely well and look cool.

I don't like the big V-tread patterns either.

It's un-American!! I will probably stay with GY Supercar tires.

...seems like several of us with '04s are coming due for tires...be it from wear or age. My fronts are wearing on the inside corners but the rears are getting...brittle for lack of better words. The rears have tons of tread left but I notice the rear end walking at full throttle when I'm deep in 2nd and even in 3rd

On one hand there are not that many options...on the other hand there seem to be lots of options if you move from stock sizes...I need to get educated and currently read every post concerning tires for C5 Zs.

I don't buy new tires often and I'm into this car for the long haul so whatever goes on the car will be with me for the life of the tire. Money is not my only concern (performance, noise, looks, wear) but then it don't grow on trees in my yard either.

Yep yep. But why would you not choose the PS2 or Nitto R2 instead? I hear the Falken 615's are good too, but have a low tread life. The Nittos have a small tread depth, so they probably don't last long either. I'd be all about the Nittos, except I'm sure they don't do well in rain and won't last as long as PS2s. Ugh choices choices.

I wonder how the Falken are in the rain? Falken Azenis RT-615. It shows they make a 315/30/18.

275/40R17 98W 2835-2745 9.5 9.0 - 11.0 25.6 10.8 806 10.0 8/32 28.8 51 1,653

315/30R18 98W 2835-2848 11.0 10.5 - 11.5 25.6 12.4 813 11.7 8/32 32.3 51 1,653

Both are 25.6 inches high which is perfect.

I too am in the need for tires for my 04 (16000 miles and cords showing on inside front)

I have been debateing this for a while and had it narrowed down to the Goodyear GS-D3 ($1400)or Toyo R-1 ($1100) or the Vredestein Sassanta ($700)

I have deceided to go with the Vredeseins after all the good things I have been seeing. After calling the compamy and getting such nice service, very friendly and able and willing to answer all my questions, I made up my mind.
They are to have good wet and dry tracktion. Good wear and are supposed to provide a quite ride. Very interesting design.

They should be showing up tomorow and I will have them on by Saturday.

American made and one of the best three season tires out there.

Unfortunately not all are American made- just got some 245-40-17 's for the wife's car and was dismayed to find 'MADE IN CHINA" on the sidewall- these are new GY- GS-D3's --

Needless to say I took them back and got Michelin's-

Another technicality is that they do not come in Z06 factory sizes. I just bought another set of GYF1SC tires. I should be set for awhile.
The big "V" patterns just look like they should be on a ricer instead of a Corvette.

I'm very glad we have so many choices, you can answer specific needs at a price you can afford. Problem is actually making the right choice and not a mistake. I'm looking for dry street grip, reasonable wear and price, so far the Vredesein's are a real player! Where did you get yours StingerZ16?

Just curious, did they arrive? Installed? How are they? We need an update. How do they handle wet, dry, drive quality, quietness, etc.??

I think you need to narrow down your driving style.PS2's are high performance dry and wet performing tires maybe the best in its class. Nittos R11 is a racing tire ,serious dry traction 6/32inch tread not good in rain no long life louder tire but get it hot its a major performer by design.Drive the car daily PS2,drive car once a week or weekends nittos. Also you do not need to heat cycle, but it is better the tire will heat up faster and last longer.
