Default Removing Rear rotors

I am trying to remove my rear rotors to paint them. I have a 2004 convertable. I had to knock the rotor loose from the hub but I can only get it to come out about 1/2" and then it seems to spring back. The parking brake is off. Is there any way to release the e-brake shoes more or am I missing something? I am fairly new to the corvette world. I've had this car for about 6 weeks. It has 24,000 miles and is a manual transmission. Any ideas?

The parking brake shoe wears itself a "lip" into the drum, which can make it stick. My solution is to get a rubber mallet and POUND the sucker off. This can require you to change the shoe if damaged (not usually, but sometimes).

Also, the V shapes spring that hold this all together can snap off while you slam the crap out of it, making it a bit more painful because the shoe will want to come out with the rotor, but will be held on by the adjuster.

Keep at it. It will come off.

Had a similar problem with mine a month ago. Just keep working it and reinstall the clip if it comes out.

I used a rubber mallet and worked at it hitting around the rotor to on the backside to loosen it, then hit the front side to drive it back on...
working it loose so that I could ensure it came off square. They tend to bind especially if a lip has been worn into the inner drum on the rotor unless they come off square.

The way i got mine off was to put the car in N and rotate it foward like the car was rolling while pulling on the rotor and it came right off very easy and simple.
you dont had to beat it off and break somthing that you will have to replace with only 24k there should not be a lip in the rotor also try putting on the E-brake a few times somtimes they get alot of brake dust in them if someone drove the car with the ebrake on.
