i would have traded him my wife, and my left nut for that yellow vette
with razor grill

she went from this 1973 Coupe:
to this 2003 Vert:
in one day
Blame this on Corvettes at Carlisle. We've always loved the '03 50th Anniversary Vert ; almost bought one new in mid 2003... and saw one-too-many at Carlisle this past week. On the drive home, Yvonne decided to buy one. But here was the catch...
* low miles
* no BSM's (our personal preference)
* auto trans
Found one online within a few days. It was at Bob Taylor's Classic Cars in Bloomington, Illinois.
Low miles ??? how about 5400
BSM's ??? none
Auto Trans???
as an added bonus, this car had never been titled... was still on the original GM dealer title:
This car had been in the hands of a dealer that originally got it from a local Chevrolet dealer . So, Yvonne will be the first person to be titled on this '03 Anniversary Vert
A deal was made online and signed paperwork sent to us before we left. All that was left was a 5 hour drive there to inspect and hand over the funds.
As we arrived... I could tell we were in for a treat. Here's a video Yvonne took as we approached Bob Taylor's Classic Auto dealership:
http://www.ctechradio.com/2003/bob.mpg 19mb (slow to load; might want to right click - save as)
as we stepped inside, here is what we saw:
and there it was:
The owner Bob and I talking cars... Bob is a true car enthusiast:
me checking the codes:
Actually I was on my smartphone doing a forum search on how to pull the codes from the DIC. I had forgotten to pack my Predator and had never pulled codes via the DIC. Went online, did a forum search, and found the instructions... gotta love modern tech. The good news is NO CODES
This car was advertised as being "like new", and I must say that it was everything Bob had mentioned. The owners manual still bagged and CD changer cartridge still shrink-wrapped. The top looked factory new, the seats perfect, the engine bay factory spotless. Looked like no one had ever been in the car - let alone drove it for 5400 miles.
I did a detailed visual; got under as best I could and checked everything I could see.
Yvonne test drove it and it was perfect. We finalized the paperwork and drove 300 miles back home with no issues what-so-ever.
Here is Yvonne as she's ready to drive the car back home:
we swapped cars a few times during the drive back. I must say that the magnetic ride suspension sure does smooth out the bumps and dips
Today we washed-off the bugs and NXT'd the beasty. Here's pics taken with the car at it's new home:

yes; made hotel reservations just after new years. The last two CI's... we didn't drive our Corvettes. But Yvonne recently said she wants us to take her new(er) Corvette this time. So unless there's a total wash-out forcasted - looks like we'll be there in her 2003 AE Vert.
