I will be replacing my calipers and brackets with powdercoated ones from Mike the Powdercoater. The factory service manual says to use NEW bracket mounting bolts when the originals are removed. These are the ones that should be torqued to 125 lb/ft. Is this absolutely necessary or are they just covering their a__? I know they come with adhesive on them when new but couldn't they be reused with Blue Locktite or even Red if needed? I really don't want to buy new bolts but if it is a requirement, so be it. Can I get some thoughts? Thanks
Just clean the old threadlocker residue off the threads, and use red Loctite when reinstalling.
Thanks
Considering this is a major part of the brake system, I thought I would at least ask. I bet the cost of new GM bolts is ridiculous! Only have 8k miles on the car. Red locktite it is.

When I installed my new rotors, I went ahead and bought some new caliper mounting bolts - got them from the Chevy dealer and cost was $12.24 (this was back in 2003).
You can use the bolts again like mentioned above, I just chose to get new ones.
