I want to hook up my MP3 player to my vert. Here is the issue, where should i buy the stuff to do it (should i listen to the kids at Best Buy)? I dont want to just buy one of those things that plugs into the cig lighter i wasnt make it more perminate. Now i have a stock radio (tape player with no CD changer) I already have my sirius radio hooked up to the antanae. can i still hook up something to plug my MP3 player right in????
I know this is another one of those dumb MP3 threads but please help.
a battery powered mp3 player and a tape adapter is the quickest way. the best would be to replace the stock head unit with an mp3 compatible one. you can get RF modulated aux input modules which work in much the same way as your sat radio system does. I don't know about putting more than one RF modulated device on the same system, but I cant think of a reason it wouldnt work. just pick a different frequency

Thank You....The kid at best buy had a modulator that he said needed to be hooked up to the battery. Not sure about that one.
I wound up changing the head unit to a Pioneer. It came with a USB port so I just plugged my IPOD into that. If you want to use your stock speakers you will need an adapter kit. David

I didn't care about how permanent it was, so went with Radio Shack's Monster aux. plug-in type adapter. Works great and can move it to my truck. About $60.

I have a complete MP3 generic set-up that works with stock radio system. It uses a Pie GM-AUX 10 unit and has a generic 2.5" mini jack (just like your headset) that goes thru your radio.
The only thing is if you have CD player in the rear you'll have to disconnect it.
PM me if you're interested in it. $100 for power cable, Gm-AUX 10 adapter, and generic 2.5 mini jack.

That is a nice install, the bezel really makes it looks great. Where did you get it?

This is the way to go. You will need an additional part since you don't have a CD Changer. You can read about what you need on the website below. Who needs a CD Changer or player when you can have a thousand CD's on your MP3 player. I paid $69.95 plus shipping online. http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piegm10aux.html Given that, you should support the vendors on the forum if they sell them at a reasonable price. The FM modulators and those cassette tape adapters have extremely crappy sound quality. I bought an FM modulator and used it once. Don't waste your money on either.

Ok i think i have this figured out. I need the pie gm10aux and the cable that goes from that to my MP3 player. Now that i think i have that figured out does anyone know if the stock tape player radio has the plug in place in the back for the CD changer which i dont have??
Sorry this is so drawn out but i want to be able to do this.

What I was thinking, since you don't have any CD at all; is that you would need the "P.I.E. COR-HAR Corvette Wiring Harness" and the GM10-AUX. I'd call LOGJAM and ask them what you need. It's not crystal clear on the website if your radio/cassette is compatible. The GM9-AUX may be what you need...but given no CD in your unit; I'm not sure. Give them a call.

I thought all of the bose headunits could have a CD changer added on to it. Do you have an AUX button on your radio?
To be sure, hopefully Logjam could answer that question for you.
I recommend a new head unit. Most all new head units will play MP3's burned to CD-R. It is so nice just jumping in and everything is on, and sounding great. No turning the MP3 player on and off. Well worth the extra time/money.
I did the ipod2car (easy install) and it powers the ipod as well as powers the battery up when not in use.
In my new truck I have a tape deck too and so I just bought the tape deck setup (cheesy as he!! looking), but it works all the same. In fact, the quality really isn't that bad, it is also cheap ($17.11 at best buy) and very easy to take out and install.
