My neighbor recently picked up a 2001 auto C5 and has zero mechanical ability. He took the car to a dealer for some minor issues but doesn't trust their quotes. Anyhow the issues he has are:
*He closed the hood and the head up display is out of alignment, you can't really read it.
* Whisling noise, I had him start the car and it sounds like vacuum leak coming from the intake somewhere. The dealer told him it would effect his gas milage and the car isn't running correctly because of it. You can hardly hear it btw.
*Gas smell when you fill the car up all the way.
Ideas?

-What he said on the HUD
-No clue on the whistle
-These cars dont like to stop with the automatic shutoff at gas stations. If hes doing it that way the it often goes over a little. The gas door sits right behind the drivers head, so I would guess thats the smell. I smell it if I forget and try and do the auto shutoff, spills over everytime and I smell gas inside for the next 20 miles or so.

Don't want to jinx my car,,,but,,,,Zero probs so far,,,,52K total,,,,12 K with me behind the wheel! Gas smell makes no sense to me. Need more info for that one. Warming up?, Hot? When and under what conditions do you smell gas? Only when filling up?
