B&B bullets just arrived for my sons 03 z06. plan to install this week end. neighbor has lift I will be using. any advice from the old timers as far as install goes?
Thank you
Getting the old exhaust off is the hardest part.
You're lucky you have access to a lift.
Besides that it is an easy install. I had to adjust the tips a couple of times after driving to get them lined up.
I don't know if it was just my car but after 3 HPDE sessions, the welds on the stock exhaust flanges (where the B&B bolt to the stock exhaust) cracked all the way on one pipe and about 3/4 on the other. I had to get them welded up. I think the weight of the exhaust was putting some stress on the flanges.
Yeah, if you have a lift, it will be a cake walk. Don't forget to use a torque wrench when tightening up the rear sway bar. Also watch for the u-bolt in the frame where you attach the muffler hanger. Mine got lost up in the frame and it was a PITA trying to fish for it with a magnetic pencil tool.
Pretty straight forward and simple to do.....no big tricks to them....
With a lift and installing on a 6-speed (on a auto tranny the passenger side takes a while to get the stock exhaust pipe out) you should have no problems.
