Hey guys, I did a search on reduced pwr check traction control message and the overwhelming fix was to replace the battery. However, Once I started to get this error message I noticed that my clutch does not return to its up position after I switch gears. Is this a "side effect" of the battery needing to be replaced also. Or should I have my tranny and clutch looked at? By the way was does my battery meter show 13V if I need to replace the battery?
The two problems should not be related. Your clutch pedal has a return spring affixed to it to help it return to the rest position. Sounds like you lost it --- haven't found any pieces of spring around your feet lately have you? Or heard a big "sproing" as you pressed in the clutch?? Maybe that's not the problem but I lost one on an F-Body and had that problem. I never did repalce the spring --- bought one but it was too much of a PITA to put back on.
Havent noticed any springs but sometimes the clutch works just fine after I dirve 5 mins or so it pops back up into the correct position. Do I just need more fluid for the hydraulics?
According to GM low voltage to the powertrain control module will ignite column lock issues. The (CLB) column lock bypass module is added to fix the issue by isolating the pins in the retracted postion and attaching a module to communicate with computer.
Cycle the clutch fluid every couple months to maintain clear fluid and better operating hydraulic clutch.
Also I believe your monitoring bus voltage inclusive of the battery and alternator. While operating at normal RPMs, you should see mid to high 13's.
