which air filter do i have?
i recently bought a 2000 coupe that has an aftermarket air cleaner. the previous owner knows nothing about it as the original owner was the one who installed it and left him with no information. didn't seem to bother him for two years but i would sure like to know if i need to buy a new filter, or is it one that i can clean? the metal tube on top is marked halltech systems and the air filter says donaldson and the number p546680. it is oval shaped, 8 inches by 4.5 inches and 7 inches long. i went to both of their websites but couldn't find the information that would answer my questions. i sure would appreciate it if someone could tell me what i have and what i should do. this is my first post so i'm not really sure how this works. thanks in advance!

You might have a Blackwing as they are made by Donaldson and you can go to their website at www.slponline.com and see if you recognize your filter. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I will trundle downstairs to my garage and see if my Blackwing has that part number on it and snap a handydandy digital picture of my Blackwing for your enjoyment!

Hope you can tell by this picture as this is a Blackwing. If so, you should buy the cleaning/re-oiling kit directly from SLPonline as they only recommend their's and not the K&N brand? I have absolutely no clue as to why, but for the price of your car, why take the chance. Play it safe with the maintenance, then and only then should you: "Drive it like you stole it!"
