I have read everything I can find on Service Column Lock but I can’t find out how to fix the problem so I can drive the car. I have purchased CLB but that won’t repair the problem it will just make sure it won’t happen again.
My car has had an update so the column does not lock but the fuel pump does shut off the car.
I have pulled the fuses (#25, 27 & 29) in the passenger’s foot well compartment , removed and charged the battery and turned the steering wheel from stop to stop. I have also cleared all of the computer codes.
I live 250 miles from the nearest Corvette dealer, so getting them to service the car is a big inconvenience. What can I try to get this car running??
So did you install the CLB, was there a K harness installed and if so did you remove it? The fuse removal and the installation of the CLB shoud have taken care of your problem.
It should......worked for me . You really should fill out your profile so people would know if its a 6 speed which I assume. Your personal info in a profile will get you help much quicker and many times help from other owners in your location. just a suggestion............
So... by installing the CLB and removing the K harness the car should be fixed?
I am still waiting for my CLB to arrive, I ordered it a couple of days ago.
The odds are good that the relay in the Harness K has failed and is causing the BCM to shut off the fuel.
If you do not have a replacement, and your actuator was still working, you can just remove the Harness K and reconnect the actuator to get the car going again.
When your aftermarket bypass arrives, you can install it.
The BCM is programmed so that if it determines the actuator is in the locked position, or it cannot determine the position of the actuator, it sends a signal to the PCM to cut the fuel so the car cannot be driven with the column locked. Even though the lockplate has been removed, the BCM still needs to get the correct feedback from the relay in the Harness K to keep the fuel from being cut.
The aftermarket Column Lock Bypass is just a relay that performs the exact same function as the relay in the Harness K kit. However, the GM relays seem to be more prone to premature failure than the aftermarket versions. I installed a Harness K kit about 3 years ago in my 04 Z06 and it is still working. The original relay kits had more reliable relays than the newer kits that came out when GM started installing the kits on the manual cars.

There is another simpler solution that might get you going: if you've already disconnected the battery for 30 min. and that didn't work, clean your key chip with alcohol and let it dry completely before starting the car. This has worked for me (I have the CLB installed).

Did for me also. My story on the GM hoax fixes is long.
Did the recalls:
Re flash PCM and removed lock ring - did not work
Install K harness - did not work
Told me my actuator was bad replaced that and removed the K harness (thank god for GMPP)- did not work but after this I was able to drive the car with Service Column Lock so it sounds like the PCM was re-flased to original

I had the recall on mine performed before I bought the car, but I have a CLB bypass so I'm installing it just incase. Hope I don't have any issues with this! You know I'd take this over the flying roof of the C6 though, at least no one can be hurt (unless you break down in the ghetto)!
