Default just noticed something...

i had my headlights up this morning and realized i was missing the plastic "lock" cap the drivers side headlight had it , it says turn and lock on it, just a circle plastic cap i believe, how big of a deal is that if i left it open?

i was thinking rain getting in may hurt my assembly, and does any one know the name it'd be if i was looking to buy one?

Default lost mine as well...

....called the dealership and they had them in stock. here's a little trick for properly installing them. after losing a second one, i finally took the headlight "surround" panel (the bezel that these plugs twist into) off and if you look on the underside of the plug, there is a detent that the plug needs to fully snap into. snapped them into place, reassembled the bezel and haven't had an issue since.

hope this helps,

rich

Default Got tired of losing them, Permatexed 'em on

I put a small bead of non hardening black permatex in the grove around the cap, then lock it in place. Before that, I lost a couple. Haven't lost one since I used the permatex. Will come off if needed.

I have one old style round Caplug and one new style with slot. BOTH KIND WILL FALL OUT. I used black RTV on BOTH plugs. Won't fall out now. If you want to adjust the headlights take out the 3 screws and go for it. BIGHANK

Both of them on my 98 fell out after a week of owning it. Never replaced them and after 9 years it's never been an issue..............

Check inside your engine area for it. I thought I had lost 1 of mine and went without it for the longest time. While I was installing my Blackwing I found it!

IMO, the real issue with leaving it off is that when the lights are on you will see the light coming through the opening on the side. Very annoying.

I lost one of mine and couldn't find it in the engine bay. Bought one from ACI for a couple of bucks. I used a little silicon to hold it in place, been there for over a year now.
