anybody have and great ideas or experience killing the wind noise. the driver side window is pretty loud for me. haven't been able to do much about it. the problem started when I sold my 'glass top' and went back to the regular top.
the insulation 'looks' fine. had the widows adjusted. at this point I would like to set the windows back to 'normal' and try something else. what has worked for you guys?
it sounds like you may have done it already but behind the door panel you can adjust the pitch of the window in or out I put mine in and it was tighter against the top weatherstripping and its pretty quiet now. From what I hear on the forum it hard if not impossible to eliminate the sound (wind) completely

Did you adjust the "blow out" clip (little metall clip on the side of the roof) right?
It should be as close as 2mm from the clip to the windowglass...

That solves most of the windnoise at speed.

My vert passanger glass recently started fitting OVER this clip when closing the door. The clip itself doesn't seem to be adjustable.
I don't want to screw up the whole window but would like to get the glass to reside INSIDE the clip like it used to. If I open and close the window with the door shut it will go under the clip. If I force the glass inward when closing the door it will also go UNDER the clip. Prefer not to do EITHER of these actions.
Is there a fix for this short of playing with all the window adjustments inside the door? BIGHANK
Had the same problem and was so bad I would get wet every time it rained. Had window adjusted and weather stripping replaced 3 times and still no fix. Tried a new dealer service department and they have a guy who only does weather stripping. He did his magic and no noise/leaks in the 8 months since. I have come to believe that weather stripping is an art and unfortunately, very few treat it that way. Try calling all the Chevy dealers in your area and see if they have anyone who can handle your problem.
try turning off the interior (heating/cooling) fan when it is making noise and see if it stops. if it stops when the fan is turned OFF, just open up the rear air vent in the left quarter of the car a little and that should fix it. chances are the interior air vent in the car is a little clogged.
OK folks, there are two ways to adjust the Blowout clip:
1. Meassure distance between window glass and inner edge of clip. It should be less than 2 mm. If its more than 2 mm, lower window, protect clip with some tape and hammer/bend the clip carefully with a plastic hammer. slowy lift up window and check distance between clip and glass. Open door slowly and close door slowly to check for enough distance between glass and clip. DO NOT slam door unless you are shure there is enough space between clip and glass!!! Do not bend the clip to much as this will disturb the rubber from the weatherstrip! Testdrive and adjust again if theres sill noise...
2. The clip is fixed with a phillips head screw to the roof. You need to lift of the weatherstripping a bit where the clip sits and loose that screw. Now you can moove the clip in and outwards to get the correct distance between window glass and clip. When clip is adjusted to less than 2mm glass/clip distance tighten screw and check for glass/clip clearance by carefully opening and closing the door. Again: be very carefully not to brake the glass if the clip is to tight!
Testdrive and agjust again if neccesary. When all is fixed, glue the weatherstrip again to the roof and drive without noise up to 150 mph...
In 99% this will solve the problem. Most of the time IT IS NOT a bad adjusted window! The clip keeps the window from beeing sucked out at higher speed when the pressure inside of the car is higher than outside of the car. If the clip is not set right, the pressure will suck the window out and, in the worst case, the glas will stay outside of the clip. In that case water will enter the inside of the car!
Great info Jochen ........many dealers have a glass guy they use as a 3rd. party who becomes a specialist at leaks (water, air) an option is to see if your dealer knows of such a person.
Went through this when i had my '97 Vette. It was so annoying. I had to adjust the windows (pitch/height). This helped out some what . So i figured what the hell and bought new weather stripping. Didnt have any more wind after that untill over 100mph.
When i bought my 97 it was 1 year old. The car had that windnoise problem from the beginning. I went back to the dealer and told him about the noise...
I heard just: "mmmmhhh, well.... you know... maybe we could try to adjust the window... well, but we guess that will never really go away... mmhhh, i dont know.. bla bla bla".
At that time the windnoise started at about 100MPH and got terrible over 130 MPH.
I couldnt live with that!
Back in 1999 i searched in this forum and found exactly that info about the blow out clip. I adjusted once, test drove and car was silent up to 130 MPH. Did some more adjustment and have the window now within the clip up to Vmax (over 180 MPH).
Dont let anybody tell you that this problem cannot be solved!
