Default Windshield replacement

Just had my windshield replaced for having a large chip in it. I have free glass replacement on my insurance.
I was blown away though, on what it took to have it replaced.
The Seal moulding that goes around from each door (side windows), around the top of the windshield, and seals the roof panel, has to be replaced. The tech said that piece costs $700.00. Total cost for the windshield replacement was at $1800.00. Thank god I had insurance on it.

Default Why to have $0 deductable comprehensive

Ditto here. Don't know what it cost but got the OEM windshield and the entire surround for my vert. One time pays for years of insurance. BIGHANK

I had to have my windshield replaced ~1-1/2 years ago. They also replaced to rubber molding as well. The total cost was around $700.00. I think you're getting hosed. Just my .02. Good luck.

At least the insurance co. hosed hosed anyway. That glass guy was giving out . That rubber windshield moulding does NOT cost anywhere near $700.00.

Then how could the total cost for the replacement have been $1800.00 as he said?

Are you saying there was $1100.00 in labor?

Actually I was thinking jnfigueroa's post. Sorry.

Ditto....

Our vette had a pothole in the windshield when we bought it.
We took *a chance* in contacting our insurance company about replacement - not really expecting them to cover it because it was a pre-existing condition that we didn't create.

To our luck (and surprise) - they covered it completely.

The total was like $1300 (give or take, can't remember) for an exact factory replacement HUD windshield plus labor (and everything else needed) to install it.

Pretty neat watching the guy install it though.....The spatula vibrator thing was pretty interesting.

Hope I never have to replace mine, but if I do, the $100 comp deductible will come in handy.

I didn't know that the HUD windshield was any different than the one without the HUD option? What's different about it? The HUD camera is located on the dash.

I'm asking as I need to replace mine due to a typical BS I-95 stone chip.

Some feel the coating on a hud glass better reflect the light. Others say they see no difference

Well I do agree that some have said that they put non hud glass and see no difference, but I have seen people also say that when non hud was put in, they saw double images. Just didnt want the guy asking to think it was a "personal preference" thing, some of them had a significant problem with the non hud glass.

I would at least make sure you discuss it with them prior to any work being done so that you both can live with the outcome.

Yes, I do have a HUD and it does take a different glass than without the HUD. Also My Radio antenna is built into the glass. All this combined is why the price was so high.

What company did you go with? I need to get the one in my 95 replaced soon. Did they do a good job?
