I'm a rookie on the forum & to Vettes. I have had my Z06 for 6 months and I want to do more than day trips. But I've heard horror stories about parking your Vette overnight in a motel parking lots. Is this just urban myth? How do you do it when you travel distances? Any recommendations would help.

Its all on where you are at in any city.....Chicago has it's nice side, and bad side just like the rest.....If you dont go to the ghetto you will be fine....
I've done a lot of traveling with my Vettes and also my street rod. I've never had a problem, but when possible I try to make sure I have a room with a view of my car. I've heard stories but careful parking can help make a big difference. Try to make sure you are under big lighting. If you are really nervous you might try removing the master fuse from the underhood fuse box. Thieves don't take the time to repair cars they can't get running. In my street rod I have a hidden master power cutoff switch. The only current still flowing is to the remote doors and the radio memory.
Happy motoring and enjoy traveling with your car. You meet a lot more interesting people when you travel in an unusual car and it really adds to long journeys.

I know you don't want it to get messed up, BUT it is a car, enjoy it. I have found that people don't enjoy there cars near to the fullest when they spend the whole ownership worried about rock chips and thieves
