Dead Pedal
Does anyone know of a company that manufactures an aluminum dead pedal to replace the plastic OEM pedal? I'm not talking about an after market product that bolts on to the plastic pedal, I'm talking about the large plastic piece that bolts to the floor.
thanks

I have this one:
http://www.corvettepartz.com/pedal-d...ombo-p-90.html
It screws on top of the factory black plastic....never seen one that replaces the unit entirely...

all you'll find is the one that is a cover. the large plastic OEM box isn't made aftermarket.

Novat_99, how difficult was the gas pedal install?

I once saw a guy on another forum hook up a massage motor to his dead pedal. Not a bad idea for long drives....except when you finally get there your right foot is all tired but your left foot is ready to run a marathon.

The gas pedal install is very simple....just a matter of removing the compression pin behind the pedal and putting the new one on...this does require some patience though. It also helps to have a small mirror handy...I placed it on the floor behind the pedal so that I could see the rear of the pedal in order to remove the compression pin.

I have often wondered why all of the pedals don't match in my coupe. Looks like this thread is just what I was looking for!
Novat_99 - Thanks for the tip about the compression pin!

When I bought mine from ELITE ENGINEERING, they told me they had been testing a dead pedal that had 3M double sided adhesive tape instead of the fasteners. The offer was made I could try it and if I didn't like it, return it for the other. They said it hadn't come off in their months of testing and it hasn't come off on mine, either.
As far as a complete replacement for the oem plastic piece, any machine shop should be able to machine one up if you're willing to pay the price...and adding weight.

I would think the dead pedal would be a good place for the 3M tape, maybe have a better look than screw heads?

Well, I found a company that is going to attempt to manufacture a dead pedal from billet aluminum for me. Stay tuned for progress and pics.
