After 6 years of Corvette ownership, including my used C4 and used C5, I have never taken one to a dealerhip for service.

Both have been very reliable. Any minor repairs, such as battery replacement was done by me. Any mods were done by me with help on some of the difficult ones from CF member Chriswtx.

I can't wait to open up a can on my local Stealership!!!!!!!!!! I took my car, a 2000 MN6 Coupe in for "headlight" problem and ask them to check for any codes. I already knew I had an old c1225 code thrown,,,,,,and sure enough they found it but,,,,,the headlight problem was explained to me as a bad RH motor. $441 just for parts! I was told that the motor was not available and I backed that up with you guys and Gene,,,and others here on the forum. I found a motor and then I went to OKC Corvette night and got the REAL answer and had it confirmed this morning! Just a stripped gear! $87 later from rodneydickman.com and a trip to Jamie at a Shop in my town,,,,Thanks jaygood,,,,,no more problem after the brass gears get here! Jamie "might" charge me $50 and he will show me how to fix it as well!

WHY DO THE STEALERSHIPS DO THIS?

PIC of jaygoods car and thanks again!

I have never left my car at a shop while it is being worked on. I'm usually watching from 10 feet away the entire duration or under the car watching who ever is working on it which is not even allowed

I may be the odd one out, but if we can't do the work in the driveway, (unless it is a tune job) the only place I take my car is to the dealership. After my Z28, my C4, and now my C5...14 years of owning cars (10 years owning Vettes), and many trips to the dealership (I did own a C4), I have only had one problem, and they not only fixed their mistake but gave me a full refund on the work and put me in a rental car.

Of course, 4 of the service writers know me by name (and know my car), the shop foreman, shop manager and service manager all went to school with my father.

My cousin Bob in Tulsa OK, always brought his 2004 vette to the dealership for service and repairs...until two of the sales guys took it out on their lunch break and hit a telephone pole with it.

If your going to bring it to the dealership, bring to where you know the service manager, or get to know him. Bring it there and wait for it to get serviced. Build a raport with him and the next time you won't feel so worried when you drop her off.

If anyone needs service in SoCal, Bruce at Santa Monica Chevy is awesome!

'02 coupe, I wait AND watch EVERY time. Bought new at dealer, only minor things like oil change. Tip the tech, it works every time.
