I've had my 02 6spd Coupe about 90 days now and was getting kind of smug about not having all the weird electrical gremlins others complain about. It has performed flawlessly. Today I jumped in and the seat didn't move, in fact, nothing on the door worked. I then turned the key to ON and every error message known to mankind scrolled across the DIC. If I were not a member of this forum I would have called the dealer and then slashed my wrists when I got the bill. Instead, I opened the door, grabbed the rubber bellows that covers the wires and yanked like heck. All the errors and flashing lights went away. I then motored home with my Vette grinning from headlite to headlite. Many thanks to all the forum members that take the time to show us non-tech guys how to fix this stuff. If it were not for guys like Bill Curlee and others, I'd still be in that parking lot. BTW, I did fix it right when I got home.
glad it gotchu home .. i dont feel like searching and i'm unaware of this issue. for future reference, maybe somebody can go into more detail of these infamous wires?
All the info is in a sticky at the top of C5 Tech written by Bill Curlee and titled "Important Elec Info", pg 16. It's a great read and it allows a non-tech guy like me to cope with the complexity of C5 electronics.
How much will you charge to diagnose some electrical problems I have on the 98?
I'm the last guy in the world you would want to hire for that. If I charged $1 per hour you could buy a new Z06 cheaper. Seriously, if you have elec issues, PM Bill Curlee.
