i should soon be getting a 2001 Z06, although they are very fast with a 12.6 1/4mile, they dont really compare with the new 2002 Z06 that runs 11.9in the quarter mile. my question is how do u get the 2001 to run high 11s like the 2002 Z06 without nos and without drag radials, and as cheaply as possible? o yea, and i would like to know the costs of these parts.
gz43.............HAH!!!.......you been reading too many mags........
The '01's, are running 12.1x's, and one has gone under 12.00.........11.985....to be exact, and bone stock.......
I have yet to see an '02 stock running that fast.........
I'm sure they will, but haven't seen it yet......
Grab a Halltech T1, and you'll be sitting at about the same rwhp as the '02's stock......... :D
The 02's I have seen run did 12.4-12.5. 01's average 12.4-12.6. I have seen one on this Forum do a 11.985 (Powershifter). And the racer I associate with, Ranger (on this Forum) has done a 12.14 with just a haltec intake. No nos or drag radials. Just Fantastic driving!!!!! :yesnod: :yesnod:
The 01 and 02 Z06s are close enough matched (about 0.2 in the quarter by Chevy's spec) that the difference will be which driver gets the best launch and bangs the shifts near actual redline while staying off the rev-limiter. That's mainly an issue of practice, practice, practice. Also the best times are always achieved at the stickiest tracks where 1.8x 60 footers (or better) are possible and it's easier to make strong shifts without inducing wheel-hop. Also need the best air (temp, humidity, and barometer).
My observation is somewhat different though this is only SOTP feeling. A few months ago I test drove a 2001 Z06 and though it seemed quick I wasn't particularly impressed. This weekend I finally went WOT for the first time in my 2002 Z06 and it was totally mindblowing. This is what I call too much power! There could be other factors involved like weather condition and mileage which favored my car but I really felt a big difference between the two cars. Maybe I have a strong one or the dealer car was a weak one, I don't know.
Maybe it was the difference between "A couple of months ago"................
20HP, Gross, is NOT going to be noticed by many folks............
I have yet to see any one with a stock '02, outrun the '01 stats of Ranger, or Powershifter..........if they have, where are the slips??????

beggar, you could be correct, PS, and RANGER could probably do better........
But, maybe not.......
Have you noticed the Sprayed & prayed jobs all over this place??.
100/200PLUS more HP, and only running .3-.5 better times, IF that??????
Thousands upon thousands of $$$$$ in mods, and still not any better than some stockers.......??.
There is a reason for this, several, one is operator, and throwing out variables in temp, and track conditions.....you reach a point where TOO much HP, is a hindrance, and NOT a help..........for ET's sake........
Anywho, you got my drift..............and I got yours :yesnod:
