Default Clutch issue ?

Hi
About two weeks ago I noticed my clutch wasn't engaging until the pedal was almost fully released. It doesn't seem to be slipping at all, it still pulls really strong. Is my clutch on the way out ? I bought this, 2002 Z06, back in July and it only had 13,000 miles on it and I've only put 1000 on it. I don't beat on it and I've been driving 4,5 and 6 speeds for 30 years now and never had a clutch problem before. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

My understanding is that hydraulic clutches are supposed to engage near the top. When the clutch wears, the space is replaced with fluid, like brakes.

Might want to give folks a head start by inspecting your clutch fluid reservoir and posting a picture of its content.

I predict it looks something like this:

If so, the path to a pedal that engages normally in the middle-half of its travel can be found here: Taking Care of Your Clutch

Hi guys
Thanks for the replies. My clutch fluid was clean but I changed it 10 more times with Prestone DOT4. It's still feels the same to me. So I had my mechanic check it out and he said he thought it felt the same as when I bought it. He thinks it has more to do with me and the way I am driving it now that I have had some time behind the wheel. Who knows, it probably is just me, only time will tell

If you are stopped with the car in first gear and begin to let the clutch out very slowly, how many inches from the top (max out) of pedal travel is the first movement of the car?

That was a real good question. So I just pulled it out of the garage and did some testing. Sure enough my mechanic was right all along. I AM NUTS !!!!!!! With the car sitting and slowly letting out the clutch the car started moving about half way up. Sorry for the waste of time :o :o :o

It's just sad to know that everyone who knows me is right about me

Now get back to fixing real problems
