Default Rear View Mirror Radar Detector

By now, I kinda figured that someone would have come out with a good version of one of these. I see them on the web but I know absolutely nothing about them. Does anyone have one or know of a good one to buy?

P.S. If this is the wrong place for this, please move it to the correct place and tell me where that is and how to get there!

The only one I have seen is from Great Lakes Trophies, and have heard good remarks about it. My concern was with super-glueing a piece into the mirror, but others have done it and love it. I have the Vettequest and invisicord set up that mounts to the sun visor, and I have mixed reviews on it. It has a little too much bounce to it for my taste.

My mount attaches to the passenger visor hold down screw, I got it from a forum vendor who unfortunately I do not remember.

Something like this? http://www.m-99.co.uk/Cheetah/cheetah.html

There was another thread about a company out there that modifies your existing rear view mirror with Valentine One internals. I couldn't find it though.

Some Forum members have modified their cars and detectors to mount the siplay in either the mirror or the DIC.
Check out the audio/electronics subsection in the General Corvette Forum

Yea, but I want a radar detector that is a rear view mirror AND a radar detector in one. Then there's no issue as to where it will mount and its a lot harder to steal.

Talk to him if interested and see if you can ship him a rearview mirror to have this done? He has done a few of my cars and trucks and has always been fair and up front with me.

I want to say EnglandGreen or someone on the forum had tried to incorporate the display for a radar detector into the Heads Up Display. I tried doing a search for it, but found nothing.

Well, I contacted and heard from both vendors in this post. Get a load of this! One vendor said that they could install this setup for $3000! The problem with them is I would loose not only my mirror's lights, but also its dimming feature. That would suck as I would have no lights in the cabin and I really need that dimming feature in my old age. Also, I would have to provide the mirror.

The second vendor says that it would only cost me $499, and he would provide the mirror. He also said (as you can see in the pictures of an earlier post) that I would NOT loose the dimming feature but would loose my lights. The lights I can get past as I can come up with an alternative. Two very drastically different quotes with different outcomes. The radar detector by the way is a Valentine One (sp?) with the $499 deal.

I'm seriously thinking about going with this $499 deal and he can build one in 2 days.

The one that was posted earlier in this thread by JDMVette (http://www.piddles.net/V1-Install.htm)

Cool guy...makes them by hand. He's an electronic engineer (which happens to be the degree I presently hold), and he said he would get back to me with some details after he got a Covette mirror to try it out on.
