About a year ago, I took a very gracious and wonderful 94 year old lady who is a member in our church in a ride in my Z16. She was from Japan and had never been in a Corvette before. There is a pretty deserted road just down from the church where I attend that has a couple of 90 degree turns and and that's where we went. As I turned onto the road, I asked her if going fast would bother her. She just grinned and said "No!". I went through the gears up to about 90 and went through the curves about 50 and the whole time she was holding onto the suicide bar and grinning from ear to ear.
Well, she passed away this past week at 95 and she told her daughter to be sure and tell me how much she appreciated her first and only ride in a Corvette.
That folks, is what it's all about!
A club here in the Northwest does an annual event called "Vets in Vettes" or "Vettes for Vets" in which they go to the local Veteran's Home and give rides. We are losing our WWII vets, I would encourage anyone who has a local Vet's Home to look into an activity like this.
