New Corvette owner here (loving it by the way). Picked up an 03 coupe with 13,500 miles, perfect shape. Only problem, the driver's side mirror is loose.
Can anyone tell me how to pull apart the plastic on the door to get in there and tighten it up???? I started pulling at the top piece, but it didn't seem like it wanted to come off.
If it is loose, you need to fix or replace it before it pops off and is left hanging by the wires.
There is not an easy fix. You have to remove the mirror, compress the spring and come up with a better method of retaining the spring than the press on clip. Several methods to fix the mirror have been posted.
When you say it is loose..Do you mean that the base is loose on the door, or the mirror is loose where it swivels on the base. If it is just loose at the door bolts, you will be lucky.
To get to the mirror, you need to remove the door panel, and any of the instructions for working on the window, the door handles, etc. with have that procedure documented.

As noted above, this is not an easy fix. Bth mirrors on my '97 were loose, and I tried to do a fix. Major pain in the neck. I ended up buying two new mirrors from a supporting vendor, and having them painted to match and installed. Not the cheapest fix, but probably the best...
Using the instructions, took apart the door and tightened down the nuts on the mirror, good as new.
I will say you think you're destroying the door panel when you're taking it off, but it's just the male plastic peices coming out of the female fixtures. Got it all back together, good to go.
