Thanks LeadFoot

This is the think I was thinking of that is in many cars, including my G/F's $21k Chrysler Sebring. It's built right into the sunvisor.

BTW, I added the heated seats last year, and it is one of my favorite mods. Nice on any car, but a must have for a vert!

Yes, I have that in my Suburban, but the little remote I just posted the pcis of does the same thing, so why bother? Is there something I'm missing here? If so, please enlighten me.

I miss the steering wheel controls, my Acura had those and it was handy for volume / changing songs which I do a lot. Everyone laughed at heated seats on the Acura in Florida, but on a long trip when your lower back starts to hurt those heated seats were nice. Throw them on for a few minutes and whoa la.

Still, I'll keep my Corvette

does somebody have a answer why?

I even catch myself feeling around for the buttons on the steering wheel sometimes.

C5 Creations does that! He installs them in the factory visor. Send him your visors and he sends them back with the Homelink installed. Great quality job you can't tell it didn't come that way!

I was telling my buddy just the other day that if I could add one option that my 'Vette and my truck has to the other one, I would add the steering wheel audio controls that my truck has to the 'Vette, and the HUD from the 'Vette to my truck!

Why bother with what? You are missing that all I had said above was I wished GM had put what I pictured into the Corvettes so I could toss that stupid Sears Craftsman remote in the trash. I have what you have, I don't want that piece of crap in my car. I know what a remote to my garage door looks like, and yes I have mine in the ash tray too. All I said is I wonder whay GM didn't put that simple little thing in the sunvisor like so many cars have, JUST like the radio buttons on the steering wheel which how this post started.

THAT's what you missed. Since you asked...

Yes, I did ask. I thought there may have been some other reason, like some functionality I'm missing out on. I thought that if I was, I would be able to just make an enclosure that fits right in the ashtray with all the components that would bring me up to date.
Personally, I'd rather have a remote transmitter, so I can easily move it from vehicle to vehicle when need be.

Yeah, I really miss having radio controls on the steering wheel (like my '93 Diamante). Great safety/convenience feature. I find myself not listening to the radio much without the controls there.

Heated seats would have been an option that I would have enjoyed.

I remember not too long after taking delivery of my vert GM sent me a survey asking what I'd like to see them add to the next generation (C6) Vette. I listed heated seats, in dash nav, a REAL Bose audio system, a map pocket behind the seat, "Homelink", a better grade of leather, bigger, better designed wheels(have a look at Chrysler Corp), get the wiper stalk out of the way, more storage space (center console is a joke), throaty exhaust, I didn't think the drive train was matched to the horsepower/torque curve (in hind sight my 4.10s are an improvement, (I'd like to try 4.33). I said it this way, I wished they could get the wheel openings to look like they were designed to house the wheel/tire package. This was way before I learned of the list of unanswered synonymous parts/system failures. Monday quarterbacking this response the C6 did offer a lot of these suggestions obviously echoed by others polled. I can see by the mods done to my C5 car reflected some of this list. There was more but I can't remember all of it, I filled the page. I never heard from anyone after that. That was '02 when we all thought the '03 would be the C6.

BTW, there is enough play in the ashtray door that if you crazy glue a dowel of the right length to the button, then close the door, you can just tap the closed door and it will activate the remote. Just an idea, saw a guy that did it.

Had it on the Trans Am and I liked it, but I don't miss it as much as I thought I would.

These are not that bad to add, and possibly the best mod I have done.
