I was driving the vette on my way home from a buddys house one night. I was on a country rd with no traffic and just leaving from a stop. So I decided to run it thru 1st to 3rd hard then maintain the speed limit after. I did this and some of the change in my ash tray came flying out hitting my wife. She put the change back in the ash tray and shut the ash tray door. A few minutes later she asked what I was smiling about? I told her that it was awsome that my non modifed street car had this much G force for the money to come flying out of the ash tray. Not only that, the ash tray is on a pretty good angle and the change still shot out pretty good. Now I know why they put that second little door on the ash tray. I do keep the ash try closed but had forgot it open this time and am glad I did just to see that money fly out at mach 1. I still have a smile on my face every time I think about it .
anything to do with the vette makes me smile, I can clean it up and pull it right back into the garage and look at it and smile, it has became like a friend or something
that reminds me of something that happened when i first got my vette.. i was takin my gf for a ride and as i pulled out onto the street i felt like accelerating nice and quick. i told ashley ''i'm about to get on it'', and apparently she didnt know what that meant.. well i floored it and shifted into second. by the time i let off the gas i heard a slightly angry 'whimper'.. as i looked at ashley, i had to hold back my smile (even though i felt sorry for her). she just happened to be drinkin a gatorade right when i hit the gas.. i'll just say she was soaking wet and didnt find it amusing what-so-ever .. but i was happy nothing got on the car
2 days after I got the car I took a female co-worker out for a ride on a slightly wet road, crammed the gas, and fish-tailed 3 times and nearly wrecked the front of the car into a curb .. haha, man would I have been pissed. Good lesson to be careful on wet/slick roads.
Today in my A4 I decided to feel a little power and took off a little quick from a light ... squeeled the tires a bit going into the 2nd gear ... that made me smile.
When I drive to work on a 70 degree sunny morning while all the little kids and an occasional Mom or Dad are out waiting for the bus. Someone always says "Nice Car!" or give me the thumbs up. My favorite thing is when someone holds their hand to their ear signaling me to crack those Billy Boats a little bit.
I used to be that kid at the bus stop with my hand to my ear.

This is a perfect example of why when I read someone stating that "It's just a car" I feel a little sorry for them as this "lifestyle" and the affection true enthusiast have for these cars has nothing to do with "transportation" and I truly believe some folks that own and drive these cars are missing something of the experience. Hence it's a whole bunch more than "just a car."

My Corvettes make money fly too...out of my bank account!
I remember when I drove my Z06 for the 1st time. I had driven regular C5's, but not a Z. I had my dad drive my Z before I bought it, he buys cars for a living so he knows what to look for. I was at work, and when I saw the add for the vette in the paper I summoned him to take a look at it for me. So I didn't even bother driving it since he said it was a nice car. The 1st time I hopped behind the wheel, my lord you could probably see me grinning for miles. These are not "just cars", no way!
