Default Strange keyless entry problem...

Just got my car back from dealer service the other day and everything is great! Everything except for my keyless entry operation.

For some reason, when I go to unlock the car using the remote, it opens the passenger door first. Oh, and the car was in the dealer to get some warranty work done on it that didn't have to do with the keyless entry.

Could reprogramming the remote fix this? Has anyone even heard of this? It's not really a big problem, but a little annoying.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Take it back to the dealer and make them fix it.

THEY screwed it up, THEY should fix it!

nassauc5,

If the 'warranty' work the dealer was doing either required work under the dash, with the electrical system, or disconnection of the battery, then either a mis-wiring, mis-plugging of connectors, or a relay 'out of sync' occured.

I presume it takes a 2nd press of the unlock button on the remote to unlock the driver's door (which would be backwards of normal).

One crazy thought. If the dealer only had to disconnect the battery and it might just be a relay out-of-sync, you could try to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then reconnect to see if it solves the problem (remember that you may loose radio stations, and to know the radio unlock code if set, and that the car may run a bit rough at first until the ECM re-learns the engine settings).

Otherwise, I agree with others, take it back and get them to correct their error (at no cost!!).

As theadmiral94 was indicating.. depends on what they were doing for you in there. Can you unlock the driver's door with the inside door buttons electrically? If you can't, then I would suspect the driver's door solenoid has a problem, otherwise the door control module.. one of its relays may have a bad contact. They can be replaced with a soldering iron, new relay and a little knowledge. Now, if its totally backwards.. passenger door first then the driver's door opens with the remote... I'm truly not sure.
