This is the most n00bish and silly question I have ever asked... but I am going to ask it anyways. I bought a C6 shift **** for my C5 with B&M short throw shifter from a company with some silly instructions.
So, the instructions basically say "2) Now place your new C6 **** onto the shifter press down and turn clockwise until tight and in the correct location for you. Do not over tighten.". The guy who sold it to me said it is "self-threading".
My question is, do you slide it down the notch in the shifter pole to the bottom, then push down and start turning, or do you start at the top and spin down? There is a little bar inside of the **** that makes it go down the shifter to a lower part of the pole. I think you would start at the bottom and just do a few turns.... however I feel like if I turn to hard I am going to brake the bar that slides down the notch... is that what is threaded?
Anyone installed a self-threading shift **** before? So easy yet so confusing, and I don't want to break the thing...
Anthony, I bought the same **** and when I got it I thought the same thing you did, because if you look down it you really can't see any threads. So I just sliped it on and started turning and sure enfough it threaded its self on, and I turned it pretty hard at the end to get it the position I wanted , once on it won't move. I bought mine from the same dealer.

I thought it was odd too, but you just put it on, push down and start turning. To me it feels like it doesn't completely thread all the way, but you can get it tight and it won't move.
