They work pretty good. It takes mine about 5 seconds from fully close to fully open. You can also stop anywhere in the middle so its not that loud. Two cut outs run around $300, then you need somebody to weld them in. Heres a video to what my looks like:
i have the QTP version on my automatic C5. while it was an absolute pita to install (so my shop says), they are by far the coolest mod i have done!!! and, i actually ran 0.2 seconds and 3mph faster in the 1/4mi! thehp gain is obviously there, i could not however get an exact measure of it b/c one time i dynoed and gained 40rwhp and lost 40rwtq, the other time i gained 10rwhp and gain 15rwtq. its wierd, but i know it works!
mine have been rock solid, no complaints. it takes ~8seconds to open and 8 to close. so its not that quick. it ran me about $300 to install, wiring and welding.
you ask how they work, they basically have a butterfly valve that opens and closes, its powered by a lil motor. they seal up quite well when closed too.
Ive have qtp's on my camaro and on my current zo6 for year now with zero issues! Not sure my you guys seem to be having so many issues. My install was easy and they have not been removed from the car since the install. Maybe its the problem with the installer! Just my 2 cents
