ok i just got my corsa pace car exhaust in today. is this exhaust a bolt on exhaust or is there welding required?? i thought the best way to find out was to ask the experts....you guys!
It's a bolt on. No welding required... just like the instructions say.
If you got an X-pipe, that will require some cutting of the old exhaust, but still no welding.

If you do not have a lift, you might want to have an exhaust company install them. I had Car X do mine with an xpipe for 100.00. The prices vary depending on who you call. It is too dangerous to jack the car high enough to get the old exhaust off. David
i did'nt get a x pipe but if i did which x pipe would you get?
eric
I bought a Borla X pipe. It was less expensive than most and is still full stainless steel. I won't waste my money on anything that is not stainless. Being in the mid west I'm sick and tired of rust. Try the big auction site. David

You do NOT have to get it as high if you cut the stock exhaust rather then trying to get them off in one piece. If it's a stock NON ZO6 exhaust I would just cut it off as it is not worth much used.
You can install the Corsa with Race Ramps or standard jackstands.
If you go with the Corsa X-pipe it is a 100% bolt on install. I do not know about the other brand x-pipes
We installed our own Pace Car exhaust and Bassani X pipe in our garage without a lift.
Do a search for X Pipe and you will see as many opinions as there are people answering the question. From my research prior to purchasing the system, the Bassani had the most positive reviews. It is also a true X pipe with a purpose made "X" portion in the pipe that truely mixes the two exhaust sides. The only other one that I found like that was the Magnaflow. The Corsa and Borla both use two pipes that are bent such that they contact each other where a small section of pipe is removed prior to welding. I just felt the Bassani looked like a better engineered piece. Not to mention it was $50 cheaper than the Corsa "X".
I'm sure you'd be fine with whichever X you choose.
There are a lot of threads on this forum about installing exhaust without a lift so let's not make this another one.
Suffice it to say that running the front end up on Rhino or Race Ramps and lifting the rear end up and supporting on tall jackstands is plenty high, if you cut the old stuff off. One single cut near the top of the over the axle hoop on each side makes for easy removal. Install of the new pipes is even easier since they are in multiple pieces.
The X Pipe wasn't hard to do either. Just hold the new one up and mark the old pipes where to cut.
The hardest part was getting the tips aligned. That took as long as the rest of the removal/install. Do it right and take your time. If you are handy, do it yourself. Otherwise, take it to a shop.
For us, it wasn't about the $100 that a shop would charge to do it, it was more the experience of doing it ourselves.
