I don't think you have to worry about rain. Georgia is having it's worst drought in years!!
I was able to break away from the house for 1/2 the day sat and was able to get over there for the start and 1st half of the race. Here's a few shots I got of the C6R. The one of Magnuson (neon banner on the top, side shot going up turn 1) was either the lap he crashed, or the one before. I was making my way up to the top of the esses (on foot), 3 more min and I would have had a shot of him going off.
Nice Pics...did anyone do the parade lap? A few of us from Huntsville were planning to drive over but waited too late to get hotel rooms. We'd have to drive about an hour each day to get to the track and were somewhat concerned about the area we'd have to park in overnight - certainly not 5 star hotels...
The parade lap sounded like a pretty neat experience, something I want to do one day with my Z16. Maybe next year!

Just come and do a track day, get the "real" experience. On some race rubber, you should be within about 25 sec of the C6R
Christopher, I'm glad you liked the pictures. When will you be coming back to the states to drive your new speedway white Z06?? These cars are so awsome to drive.
It was good talking corvette mods with you and your buddies. I watched the race and hung out with Andy Pilgram's crew chief. We ended up helping him load the display caddie and C5R into his display trailer at the end of the race. Felt like a crew member for a few hours help loading those expensive toys Nevelle showed us how to do wheelies with our golf cart. Parade laps were a blast even after we were threated by a Atlanta cops that if we got caught speeding, doing burnouts that we would be going for a ride with them. We messed around anyways.
Hey Doug. I will be returning to the states in NOV. but I won't see my Z till DEC... Its in IL with my family and I am stationed in Colorado. I am really looking forward to driving her!!! My wife and I are planning on going to the Corvette Museum when I get back and I really hope that I can attend a couple races!!!
Dang. I hate I missed this thread.
I went for my first time and I loved it
Like, I'm not kidding you. I've never had that much fun doing ANYTHING in my entire life. I've always watched the races on tv, kept up with the info on the net, but never made it to a race til Saturday. I wish I would have read the thread about the corrall sooner.
On a side note, how did some of those people get those special passes to go inside the Corvette pit before the race started. I know everyone could go in the pits and support pits, but only a certain few could actually go in there with the 'Vette guys.
Here's all the pictures I took if anyone cares. About 80 something pictures. Don't rag on them much. It's like a 6 yeaar old camera
GREAT pics all !! I hope Aston gets back in the race as the Vettes need some competition besides the Maserati. It kinda turns into a Sunday drive for them as they weed their way thru the GT2 fleet. Love that LS7growl as they fly by ya climbing the hills.

I know you can't wait til December to drive that beast. I hope the wife has left some tread on the tires for ya!!!
If you're going to the Corvette Museum.....you gotta take a corvette plant tour (only during the week, Monday-Friday). You can sign up on their website http://www.bowlinggreenassemblyplant.com/ It is well worth the $5.00 admission charge.
