Have you given any thought to installing a Z06 Ti exhaust? At idle they are not noticeably louder than a stock exhaust. They do however have a real nice "growl" at WOT acceleration. You can usually find a nice used set for ~ $400. I installed the Z06 Ti's on my '04 vert and I'm very happy with them.
I've been tracking the results of mods as I complete them. The Corsa Pace car set up was the first addition, and I have to admit it is a wondersul sounding exhaust. The quality is top shelf, perfect fit, too. BUT, with that alone, there was no difference in either ET or speed. The Blackwing intake added next was good for 2 tenths. Installing a complete LG Street System with hi-flo cats and X pipe was good for another 3 tenths, a dyno tune 2 more (all this at mile high altitude). So if you're looking for an increase from any cat back, you're going to be disappointed. Appearance and sound only. But I would venture a guess that the rest of the mods are complemented by the free flow of the Pace Car set up. Next up is a good CNC port job, cam, etc. Then we'll see the cumulative effect....
Do a search on this forum and you will get more than enough information to develop a good feel for the different systems and set ups available. Then you can pick the best one to suit your needs. I just did that drill and ended up purchasing the Corsa Indy/Pace Car system with the Pro Series tips: Great sound at WOT, quiet when cruising and great looking tips.
