Key Fob?
I recently purchased a new #1 key fob. I have read in my manual how to program the new fob. My questions are, can i use the spare key that i have along with this new fob without problems? The keys have a small metal thing on both sides. What is that? Do i have to reprogram both Key Fobs?
Thanks for the help.........

The metal thing you mention on the key is a resistor that works in conjunction with your VATS - vehicle theft system. It has a specific resistance built in that the ignition reads and if it matches the pre-programmed number, your car will start.
When I purchased a new fob, I just programmed that one to the car. Both fobs worked just fine.
