I have had my 2002 Z06 for a while and took care of the cosmetic mods. What performance mods would you suggest I start with? Also, any suggestions on replacement tires?
I think you have to decide what you want out of the car first before you start modding. I have found over the years that you have to be careful on what parts you select. For example, your camshaft rpm range must match your intake, air box, heads and exhaust to get the best performance out of it. Personally I do not plan that many mods for my Z so I will be getting the LP lt headders, x-pipe, honker intake and a professional tune. Others may suggest bying a kit containing a cam, heads, intake, exhaust, but you have to decide how far you want to go with your car. I decided on a little more performance and better mileage. If you go with too many mods, i.e. forced induction, exhaust, intake, tune, etc... you will have to consider up grading your clutch, some trans parts. What every you decide, think it through and have fun...
First performance mods are pretty universal. LT headers, CAI, and a dyno tune. Live with this combo for a while, and go from there to either FI, or heads/cam. When you're ready for the second stage though, be prepared for lots of hidden costs, such as clutch/drivetrain upgrades, and drivability issues.

I went with the AFR heads/Cam/Intake swap for this year and come winter will be blower with a blower cam.......
There is a lot of added costs when doing this......new valve train, oil pump, timing chain, gaskets, clutch, rear end brace, and dont forget the labor if you dont do it yourself......It adds up quick
Before going heads/cam, I was running 367 to the wheels when I had just a Blackwing, WCC air bridge, Lingenfelter ported stock throttle body, 160 thermostat. This was all on the stock tune, and easy stuff you can do yourself.
