Probably an upset McDonalds customer... They forgot his syrup at the drive-thru again so he got mad and tossed it out the window... It just "happened" to land on your car Todd...
Or...
some other Vette owner... He was driving by your house too fast in his Vert and he opened his McDonalds sack only to have one of his freshly made pancakes fly out the window and land on your car Todd...
Someone once dumped a whole brand new bag of cheese puff ***** all over my car in a strip club parking lot. It was one of those out of town here for the game type people that must have had leftovers. I wish they would have just layed the unopened bag next to the car so they would have stayed fresh
Stupid crumbs made an oily mess.

I'm sure a cover would work in most cases, but I remember reading here a while back of a member who experienced someone lifting up the cover and "Keying" his ride and returning the cover to it's original status leaving him a keyed yet covered Vette. His post inferred that the cover was an attraction to some of the filth that is out there.
Now there is an original and unique way to express oneself? Some people are just raised quite poorly indeed, very antisocial! They are probably voting for Hillary next year?
Nah - they just learned how to fight from Darth Cheney.
Some time ago I parked by Starbucks and when I was coming out of the car somebody from the bus stop thrown a little 1/3 inch stone on the roof of my car.
Few weeks ago I left the car for 10min at good mall parking garage with the roof off. I came back and I had lollipop stick near the shifter. Roof on, roof off, no luck...
Just today I had the car parked in monitored garage with a doorman entrance. Entire floor empty, just my car, hidden behind the wall in a bay surrounded by walls from 3 sides. Came to take my car for a spin and I had a puddle of dog urine behind the car.
So my yellow car that smells like fruit loops seems to be popular with bees, I have on several occasions noticed bees poking and prodding my car.
In other words, maybe we can't blame simple minded organisms being unable to notice our lovely cars and being unable to stop themselves from interacting with it somehow.
Thank goodness it never happened to my corvette. My first car was a 66 Nova SS that l bought from my dad and it got egged pretty bad. I was out on a date with my gf who later became my wife. It was a warm night so the windows were all down and pow pow pow, eggs came flying at us from nowhere. Inside and out my car got hit hard but thank god we didn't get hit. I can imagine an egg pitched hard enough would hurt. That was back in 74. l hope those s***heads have become better adults.
A friend of mine reccomended a product called "rejex". it's supposed to be produced for use on prop aircraft to prevent crap from damaging the paint behind the propeller. it may even be egg-resistant. I'll have to get more details.
I have used Rejex for many years. It works very well.
