Default Trade offer opinion needed

I am thinking about trading my 2004 in for a 2008 and I can purchase at GM supplier pricing. The local dealer has offered me $34,500 for my 2004, is this a good offer? The details are below...

2004 Magnetic red convertible
Light oak interior & top
19,200 miles
Automatic
Z51 with optional gear ratio
Factory polished wheels
The option package that has pretty much everything including head up, Bose, telescoping wheel, etc.
New Michelin tires within the last 500 miles

Your comments would be appreciated.

Ohhh! I'd say: "ABSOLOUTLY"

My buddy bought his '04 with less options than yours for $29,999 w/14,000 miles on the motor and it being a MN6 too!

Your getting a good set of numbers from the dealer! Enjoy the '08! How much will the payment be?

I figure it would be on about $25,000 or so! because of the trade in! not bad for a '08 w/430 stock factory HP rating!

Thanks,Matt

Sounds like you will be getting a great deal: an '08 C6 at GM Supplier pricing and $34,500 trade-in for your '04 with 19K miles!

You better jump on it. Convertible prices fall in the winter months. I hear that LS3 engine is a nice upgrade from the LS2

It all depends on the difference that you'll pay, but that is a great price for a 04.

My 2 cents:

1. The color on your car will convince the dealer to mark it up another $3,000 to $5,000. (I recently sold a red 97 de Ville for $12,500. Book price on that car was about $7500 or so.)

2. The real answer is what you are going to pay. Dealer will definitely charge you MSRP and subtract his offer for your car. In my opinion, you are not getting the deal that you think you are getting. You can get close to retail price for your car if you sell it on your own. Admittedly, that is a headache, but your car is 'one of a kind.'

Also, admittedly, winter is coming. That does not help price of verts. Try putting your car with pics here in classifieds.

What would the new car cost if you did not have a trade. A little late to ask dealer now, but you could have a friend try that approach. Trouble is--he would have to be very convincing that he is a real buyer.

I am purchasing the 08 through the supplier program so the price is fixed by GM. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but it was around $750 over invoice.

I sincerely doubt they are actually "giving" you $34k for your car (which I'm sure is very nice....love that color). They are probably "showing" you that much in trade. You can bet that they are getting that money back somewhere. I don't think it's as good a deal as it seems. Completely dependent on what car you are buying and the price at which they are selling it to you. Didn't see that info in your post.

Somewhat. Dealers are never in it to loose money. But, if you feel deep down that it is a good deal and you are happy, then do it. The 08s are nice and have more power.

Again, if you are happy with the deal, then go for it.

Good luck

I'm with the rest of the guys, It just sounds to good to be true. The Dealer is in business to make money, I don't see any place for them to make money here. The price they are offering you for your car is alot higher than would be expected. Top that off with a low price on the new car (supplier pricing) and you have a deal that sounds to good to be true. Perhaps we're all jealous. If they are offering you this with nothing added that will stick it to ya. (such as an interest rate that will kill you) you need to jump on this deal.

Watch the finance guy. Review everything he has you sign. Watch out for blank spaces, etc. Take a calculator and double check his numbers.

Could also take papers home for accountant and attorney review. After all, it is an expensive contract based on $$.

If you want an 08 and your happy with the deal get it. The bottom line is what counts. What's the difference dollar wise. It looks good from here but your writing the check.

As he said he gets the GM Supplier discount. The price is what it is. No two sticker two step. Now $34K for that car is amazing. Take it and run but I am afraid they are going to figure something went wrong in their trade in calculation.
I paid $34K for my Z06 with 6000 miles and every option 2 years ago. If they will pay you that for a red A4 vert, RUN to that dealer and get your deal signed! Good luck

Maybe Good Offer Maybe Not? It all depends on what the price of the 08 is.

Stealerships are notorious for offering high trade in allowance then jacking up the price of the car you are buying.

What can you buy the 08 for without a trade?

Sounds like a good trade in for your '04. Better jump on that deal.
