Im looking around trying to dig through people opinions on big brake kits since thats the last fully modded section on my car. I have Baer rotors and HPS pads and SS lines but its time to step up to a full hardcore kit. Not really worried about the dollar amount looking for a serious brake kit.
I'm riding out my current wilwood 6 piston front, 4 piston rear set. It is an ok setup for me personally.
Going to jump to either PFC's or either ex NASCAR or Grand Am calipers by year's end to meet my standards of abuse and quarks.
The wilwoods were great for street and light tracking, but it's time for me to upgrade, they are the weakest link on my car.
What's the goal of your brake upgrade?
Literally, there are a looot of different options. What's your serious budget for this? (possible wheel change included) What's your tolerance on noise, parts, repairs etc.?
I want something hardcore, cost and the like doesnt bother me at all. My car had enough power to get outside the threshold of my rotors and pads before and im going to pump another 400hp through it. I plan on doing standing mile and Silver state challenge events, the car sees 160 plus often enough to warrent me going for the best I can get.
Does brembo just sell those rotors? I really like the looks IE the amount of holes in the rotor really makes it look great. Thinking about upgrading my rotors and pads soon
We have used both Stoptech and Wilwoods on the track. Both have performed flawlessly. There has never been brake fade and both sets stop the car time and time again on the track.
I personally have the wilwoods on my car because I run 17in race wheels on the track and didnt want to replace all that to fit the Stoptechs. I did have to replace my 18in ccw 505as with 19in T10s to fit the wilwoods, but I didnt care about that.
The wilwoods have never not stopped me nor did I feel any soft pedal or any fade what so ever. This is after repeated use in 45 min track sessions. I doubt that a car on the street would take more abuse than that.
The Stoptechs on Dougs car have also withstand multiple track days without an issue. I believe the bigger rotors on the stoptech are an advantage on the track and the rotors last longer than the wilwoods I have on, but we have yet to test the new wilwoods with their bigger rotors so maybe they will last as long.
Bro... if money is no object, the Jetz has the most pimperish system around
You could also call LG and get the full Stop-tech "big red" kit... we just put the same kit (all though for a 3000gt) on my buddy Jay's car. It's awesome... however Jetz's are evey larger/pricier.
FWIW the car won 1st place at the 3SI national gathering... so basically it's the "best" 3kgt or stealth in the whole country Competition consisted of road course, auto-x, drag racing, and a car show. Makes about 550 AWHP. Custom painted carerra gt silver.
