Just replaced my factory Goodyears at 40000 miles with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season Run Flats (AS/ZP) (allseason/zero pressure). I am shocked at the difference. Quiet and smooth. I never realized that the Goodyears were so hard that they made the car vibrate. Now I can drive the car safely below 32 degrees here in New England.

Why would you be shocked? You replaced OLD, WORN OUT tires. Of course new tires will feel, sound and handle different. Even low quality, cheapo tires will feel amazingly better than the old ones for a couple of thousand miles. Good luck with your new tires. Will they last 40K miles?...time will tell.

Spoken like a true Goodyear enthusiast.
Time does tell on the wear. As I stated earlier, over 35k on mine and they are looking like another 25k available at least. I've ridden on the new Goodyears and there is no comparison as far as offering a quiet ride and more life to the tire. My original Goodyears came off at 25k and that was a few thousand past when they needed to.
I just got rid of the Goodyear run craps and got the Michelin Pilot Sport AS/ZP's. Just like everyone says, what an improvement. I was curious as to whether swapping out the stock shocks for a set of Koni FSD shocks would improve the ride even further. I'm guessing it would improve the handling. Any comments? Thanks.

The funny thing is that you conservatively got only 55-62% of the life on your original GY's that the OP did on his. So by your projections (not mine), the OP should get about 96-109K on his Michelins before needing to replace them providing both yours and the OP's driving habits and proper maintenance of your Vets stay consistent.
I always say exaggeration and credibility (or lack of it) have a direct correlation.
I got a set two months ago and they are a better tire than the Goodyears. The Goodyears only had 22k and they have seen better days. My 02 rides and handles so much better, plus they were cheaper than the Goodyears. I always ride on Michelins.

I made the same change and could not agree with you more!

I'll jump in with SPIVET I live near where Goodyear will be building their NEW World Headquarters in Ohio. In 11 years of owning Vettes I've never had an issue with noise, ride, or wear with the Goodyear brand. I dunno, terminally unique I guess........
