Finally, a thread for those of us who feel bad about missing a wave. At the last minute, you saw it. A palm out the window or roof at the last split second, and you realized that you had just missed "the wave." They saw you, but you were fumbling around with the radio ***** or doing something else other than paying attention to the road... and another Vette. This thread is your opportunity to apologize and give that wave, albeit a tad bit late, back.
In reality, it would really be cool if two people who really did see each other with one missing the wave actually read this, and acknowledged each other. That would be way cool!
So, to start things off, let me send a late wave to the black vert on I-64 in Louisville going east this evening around 6:30PM. Even though you were on the other side of the freeway (where I normally would have seen you), I missed until the last second. Hopefully, you saw my frantic response. But if not, here it is!
Yes, I have done that... I have missed a wave or two due to inattention. But I have a different sort of confession to make. Two days ago, I was driving down the road when I spotted a silver C5 coupe coming from the opposite direction... traffic was heavy and moving slow... we made eye contact and I gave him a wave... NOTHING! I thought to myself, "I know darned well he saw me and yet he can't so much as lift his hand to wave??" Then I remembered... I was driving my pickup at the time! I felt stupid but I'll bet I am not the only one who has pulled that little goof!

Yea, he thought you were trying to put the move on him!
At least you didn't wave at a Saturn. Try to play that off.
I had my first wave experience today and I now feel like I really belong to a special group. I almost want to go drive and hope to see another Vette on the road just so I can wave.
I was driving my MY '04 with the roof off and was making a right turn when I saw a purple C5 waiting to make a left in front of me. I have been snubbed so many times with the wave but I have never given up. So I waited till I got a little closer and I'm slowly rasing my hand up and the much older female driver with a little dog sitting in her lap beat me to it. Hey, I'll take it. Of course I responded with a big wave back.
Funny how the little things in life sometimes make us happy.
I better stop now, it's getting a tad bit corny.
SAVE THE WAVE!!!!!!!!
Jay
I always wave if I see you, but with all the Vettes we have around here, plus the way I am usually, um, "moving through traffic", a lot of times I miss 'em.
I bought my C5 last spring. Shortly after I got it, a buddy of mine told me about the "WAVE". I kinda thought he was kidding but later found it to be true. My first experience was on a late summer evening and a C4 pulled out of a gas station just ahead of me. At exactly the same moment our hands went up....it gave me goose bumps. How cool is the wave!! Let's keep it up.
Anyone here who misses waving to another Vette (of any year, model, color, direction, driver sex, excetera) should have to do a pennace of waving to the next ten Ricers that they see. That'll fix ya.
I wave at other vettes even when I'm in the Lincoln or her SUV. Some look at you funny, some wave back, some don't. Same as when I'm in the vette. But, I can't recall missing a wave to date. I'm either that good, that lucky, or that forgetful. Now, what were we discussing again?
