Default Cracked fender

Had the bad luck to miss a driveway leaving a parking lot one night, drove the right side of the car off a decent concrete curb and ended up putting a crack about two inches long on the bottom of the right front fender. The crack is way down low, you can hardly see it and it runs parallel to the bottom of the fender.

With the wheel well out, it's easily accessed from the inside. I don't think there is any stress in the area.

Can anyone suggest how to reinforce the area where the crack is? Would a piece of "plastic" epoxied across the crack keep the two pieces aligned? I don't think there is a need to actually repair the crack from the outside to the point where it needs paint, just to keep the two pieces flush with each other and not let them move relative to each other.

Any helpful suggestions appreciated!!

You can do as you mentioned, it just depends how perfect you want it to be. I would go to a body shop supply house and get some material to reinforce it and some adhesive for this type of plastic. Be sure to sand the back side area to be worked so it sticks real good. I would also put some duct tape or such on the outside to prevent leakage through the crack during the process.

I have a similar problem on my car.

I fixed it by first using packing tape on the outside to hold the crack perfectly closed, then cutting out a piece of fiberglass matt to fit, mixing up some polyester resin and painting it on the matt over the back side of the crack.

It did such a good job, you wouldn't notice it unless you knew it was there.

While I haven't used it, I have a similar small crack and am going to try this:

Thanks for the replies and hint's lads!!

I spoke with my local auto-body supply shop and they gave me the same info ..... fiberglass tape and a resin or even the epoxy glue.
