Convertible Top Repair
Can anyone recommend repairing a small tear in my vert top? The previous owner said he came out one day and found a cigarette burning on the top and it made a 3/4" tear. Can something as simple as silicone sealant work?

I doubt that there is any 'fix' that will be acceptable, appearance wise.
Check with a local upholstery shop - they can assist.

Some arsehole put a round cigarette burn in the tonneau(sp?) cover on my p/u , and i got a vinyl repair kit at Pep Boys that came with texturing stuff and a little heating iron to cure the colored liquid that you used first. Gave me an almost invisible repair, BUT I fear this may not be strong enough for a vert top repair, but it is something you might want to look at before you spend the hundreds for a new top.
I have had good experiences with a canvas place in Lancaster, if you do need a recommendation.
