My beloved Blue Angel has been idle for a little over a week! The left driver's side tire started a slow leak, and one night we went out and the tire pressure dropped to zero! I am most definately suffering from withdrawal! I hope to find a lovely set of decent run-flat tires for the front. We tried a local place called Just Corvettes and they wanted $900-$1000!!! I hope you can cheer a fellow Corvette lover up!
Ok here goes....I have a company lease car and sometimes just prior to the end of the lease I will buy used tires at a used tire store. I have seen many Corvette run flats there in the stacks of tires.......if I were going to replace just the front tires....I would at least look around for what you are being asked to spend? I would try some place other than a place with "Corvette" in the name of the business as it = Corvette Tax
BOWTIE - see if you can get it plugged. I got my run flats plugged twice for < $15....worked fine. If they can not plug it, then I'm not an expert here, but I would think you could replace a tire for < $400
BTW - on one flat I drove approximately 10 miles on the run flat to the dealer and it worked just fine
Did you try one of the Used Parts dealers like Gene's. I have great luck in dealing with him. Supporting vendor towards the bottom of the vendor listing.

just about any good tire store can get them for you. fronts are cheaper than the rear. just got a rear tire, it's was about $482.00 drive off. side wall problem from hitting a railroad track way too fast

I wish I was closer, I'd come help you out. Many stores selling cars and car parts seem to BS women, or at least try to.
You should also try as someone mentioned above to get your tire repaired first before buying 2 new ones. Don't panic and just think you need 2 new tires. These CAN be plugged or patched from the inside.
Hey Daphne, pump it up and go to a good Tire Store like Discount Tires.
If it's a slow leak it's probably a nail and they can usual plug it. Had 'em do my RF's and they worked fine. I bet those tires aren't near being worn out.

I had my 99's repaired- plugged once ,patched once total for both was $45. $ 10 to plug and $35 to patch I would go that route with a quality tire store, I doubt you need new tires
Daphne, cheer up it's not that bad. The tire place is trying to rip you off big time, don't fall for it. You can buy new tires from Tire Rack a whole lot cheaper than that. I'm with the others, go to a reputable tire dealer and have the leak fixed.
if you lived in the Bay area, I'd give you a pair of run flats for the front that are in good condition for $100! But unfortunately the shipping is more than the cost of the tires.

Daphne - I agree with trying to get the tire plugged and patched and see how that does. I've had two of my runflats plugged and patched for a number of years now and they don't leak at all. It will in all probability reduce your speed rating, but unless you plan to drive at warp speed, you should be OK.
If that doesn't work, keep an eye on the C5 parts for sale section and see if you can pick up a couple of tires cheap. The Karshop may have some or try the Tire Rack.
