My HVAC contols (dual zone climate control) are screwed up. The read out doesn't always display the correct number. That is, the display works but the read out is not a number (does that make sense?). Sometimes I get what I can best describe as an 'H'.
Next problem with it. The 'mode' button does not change the mode. the display always displays that it is on floor, vent and defrost-instead of showing one at a time.
on to the things that work. When the climate control is on, it allows me change the temp (and adjust the passenger side too). When it needs to heat, I get hot air from the floor. When it needs to cool, I get A/C from the vents. So basically, it works but only in climate control mode.
I hope I am clear with that description-if I am not and you can help but need clarification, please ask!
I have a line on a used HVAC contol unit and am wondering if I should get it and swap the new (used) one in.
Also, I have a 2000 and the used one I am looking at is from a 2001.
please help!!! Thanks.

Reason: I am begging for help.
Okay, I pulled the codes (which is pretty darn if you ask me!!)
No codes in the HVAC section-I don't know if that is good or bad. Either way, I am no closer to solving the problem.
I hope I haven't ticked anyone off. I am just looking for some help on this issue and am getting no replies. Please help this new C5 owner out. Oh, and if I've offended someone, let me know. I want to be a good CF member
I don't think you've offended anybody but this doesn't look like a problem that anybody's seen before.
Sounds to me like your control unit is shot. It's pretty easy to replace it and not too expensive.
and ppl here dont want to steer you in the wrong direction which turns into $$$. but i def. would try to swap the HVAC control unit, and get it from Gene @ gmpartshouse.com. sorry, hope this helps and good luck. post up when you get it fixed
