I've been having an issue with a loose inside door panel reflector that has just recently decided to come off. Along with that my leather skin on the door is starting to come off as well. I'm sure that I have to just re-glue the reflector but how do I fix the leather skin ? And what type of glue is used on the fallen of reflector since it's being glued to the leather skin ??
I've heard that you can get a hypodermic needle, put some glue in it (someone else can chime in here with what kind??)...then you stick the needle in to the end of where your door is delaminating (mine is doing the same thing) and as you work the needle out, spread the glue and press the wrinkle back against the door.
The hole you make with the needle is not even noticable when you are done..............I've seen a couple of other posts on this, but its been a while.............
I still have the Reflector . . Just need to glue it back in
I'm sure someone else has glued this back on before. . .just not to sure of what type of glue to use.
Thanks,
Dan
BTW if anyone knows a better way to describe this problem let me know and I'll do a search
Search on the needle fix as I have also seen it on the forum. The other fix I have seen is to use a razor blade to put a slit into the vinyl, then squeeze glue under the vinyl, press the vinyl down until the glue dries and then cover the vinyl with one of the arm rest covers that are available from MAM and Ecklers.
Looks like it is just time for a little Vette Essentials upgrade
I want to . . . but I really do like my all black look and don't want to buy from VE right now. Funds are going somewhere else . . just looking for a cheaper way to fix the reflector and other leather skin problem. What kind of glue would work best for gluing the reflector back on ?
I gave up on the needle and the glue. If you know someone in the bodyshop business, he should be able to order you a new interior panel and the snap in piece where your handle is. The reflector will come with the panel. I paid $505.00 for a brand new panel. The Stealership wanted $775.00 if they ordered it.
It looks great and I am not playing with needles and glue anymore !!!

Hmm. . . This would be a last resort. . .Does anyone know the specific type of glue that would be used to hold the reflector to the leather skin?

Contact Gene at Karshop or another Vette recycler and get the panel used.....should be no more than $100 to $150. Saves time and hassle and you fix both problems in one shot.

Dan,
As someone mentioned above, the reflector is not "glued" in. It is held in place by plastic tabs which have probably broken off and are sitting down inside the hole you pictured. Just get a flashlight and look for them, glue them back on with superglue and snap it back into place.
As a last resort, but a new reflector but do not GLUE it to the panel.
Amazing, my '04 needed new panels, thank God I still had the original warranty. My car came from Florida, I think the heat has a lot to do with it. Hopefully the new ones will stay good, I keep the car out of VA's hot sun and in the garage as much as possible.
