We've had several weeks of rain here in N. Fla. and I drive my 02 Z daily. All of a sudden the Engine light keeps coming on with two particular codes. PCM- 0410 C H (Air Pump) and SCM - ???? (Seat Memory). The seat memory control always seems to work fine. The Manual has pages and pages of tests to run for the air pump ranging from wheel sensors - Seat - O2 sensors - air pump hoses / wiring.
This weekend, I checked all the plugs for the wheel sensors and the control module for the air pump without finding anything suspicious. Do any of you have any other ideas on what else to check????
When I clear the codes, I can usually drive the car a couple times before it reactivates the code.
0410 can also be triggered by a vacuum link. The vacuum hose that drives it is a tiny plastic hose which runs under the battery and up the passenger side frame rail inside the wire loom and is often eaten by the leaky AC Delco batteries they put in the car. I'd check that immediately before proceeding as the battery leak is common and can lead to some VERY expensive problems.
Yes, usually the part that runs right under the battery. Now I will say this, if you aren't also having trouble controlling your AC/heat vent selection (in other words it comes out of them all regardless of what you select) the only way this would be the cause is if it has eaten the line and then sealed it off which pretty much means you'll need several feet of replacement line. It's worth a look. Also if you don't find the line eaten you can access the valve that is in the fender there above the access panel and directly connect that line to the other line bypassing the valve. If the pump does not run when the car is on then (you'll hear it up by the driver's headlight) then the pump is bad.
