Is it absolutely needed for your car to be spotless when you put the cover on? Because thats going to be the biggest pain in my opinion.

Yes, the car should be clean before any cover is put on it...if there is any dirt on it, it's a sure fire way to acquire some scratches in the clear coat (from the material rubbing the dirt into the paint finish).

If it's dirty...best to leave it uncovered until the next wash / detail.
