Check out the November issue of Corvette Fever. They have a pretty thorough C5 buyers guide. Good luck!

This is going to be the longest week of my life!!!! I will def. post pics once i get it. Im driving down to Philly from NYC this friday morning then heading up to my vacation home in upstate ny which is a 3hr drive from Philly. I cant wait to take that drive and get to know it.

I already printed out the DIC code meanings and how to operate it so I can look up the codes if there are any. Other than that, Ill do my best to see if all the panels line up and there isnt any signs of paintwork. Ill check the brake fluid to see if its been changed and oil as well to see if it was maintained right. Other than the basic things, Im not sure if there are any ways this car is in good shape. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey, maybe there is a forum member in the Philly area that could meet you to examine the car. Just a thought......you could post a new thread and ask for some help in Philly.

Ps- Torch Red isn't all that bad

Check under the rear diff for signs of fluid leak. Is it under an extended warranty?

Ask them if you can spray some water on to check for any water leaks.

Check the rear wheel wells to see how much punishment they've received...indication of possible abuse.

Good luck...

Check the rear wheel wells for melted rubber?

I dont want to be too **** on the dealers parking lot. Im getting the car for a good price and dont want to be remembered as some moron for future jokes. I will definitely check for moisture by touching the carpeting everywhere though. I didnt think of that before. Thanks.

Make sure you look under the car. Sounds silly but you can get a lot of info on how the car was treated.

So I picked the car up Friday around 12pm in the pouring rain, drove 5hrs in traffic to my vacation house upstate NY and let me tell ya.. It was the best feeling in the world!!!! I inspected the car for a good 40min before signing anything (thanks the all the advice from you guys.) The paint is gorgeous.. all the lines match up evenly on both sides, no leaks from the rain nor any fluids, and 0 rust. I did find two problems though maybe you guys can help me out with. When I start the car cold or hot, I hear resonance from the underneath and it can also be heard when revving up to around 1500rpm and letting go, kind of sounds like a look clamp connecting the exhaust pipes. The dealer couldnt fit the car onto the alignment machine so we dont know what it is. Also, there is a chatter like problem with the drive train when turning from a stop and releasing the clutch it chatters a lot as if something was loose. It happens when taking off and going up to 10mph but ONLY when turning. Any ideas?

Ah, forgot the mention. A part of issue #1 is when Im turning her off, something rattles from underneath as the rpm's drop.
