Sounds quite high. I just bought my wife a pretty nice 01 vert with 40K on it for $26,435 out the door. I would have to agree with the other posts that low to mid 20's is more correct.
The more I look around for these the more I realize that the pricing seems to be fair for the vette. Unfortunately, I took my wife down to the local chevy dealer yesterday to see how she would like driving a C5 vert and she didn't like it. She's always loved the '98 Pace Car and really wants this one but doesn't want to get it now due to visibility concerns (i.e. blind spots) due to the convertible top. She's 5'3" and just doesn't feel comfortable with the visibility.
I hate to pass this one up over something like that but it looks like we're going to start looking for a coupe (non-pace car) instead.

Purple with Black Interior, automatic transmission, Pace Car Edition, yellow seats, yellow wheels, dual zone air, memory package, all books and keys, ONLY 9K MILES!
HELLLO - You live in Florida!!!! TOP DOWN MAN! Other than some rain showers when the top will be up the top should always be down in Florida. The only time my top goes up in Illinois is when I wash it or when I put it away for the winter. No blind spot would prevent me from buying a convertible. A coupe in Florida is just plain wrong!!! When the need for the top arises which shouldn't be often just be careful when your driving.

I think you been out in the sun to long!
Chris
I left mine in the garage with the top down and took it out only when it was nice. I'd usually put the top up when I got where I was going, and back down for the drive home.
I always had other cars, so driving mine in bad weather wasn't really an issue - meaning there were no blind spots...
The lady I sold my last pace to is considering selling it again...let me know if you're interested and I can put you in contact with her.
Ahh, therein lies the problem. This would be a daily driver, not just a pleasure car. My wife would be driving it to work on a daily basis and wouldn't want to leave it sitting around with the top down all day. She only works a couple miles from here and wouldn't be dropping the top just to get to and from work every day; it's a 5 minute drive.
Her concern is getting in and out of parking spaces; primarily backing out of parking spaces. She's a pretty cautious driver and is a lot more concerned about it than I would be. I told her she'd get used to it but she's not so sure. It's just a little out of her comfort zone. Since this Vette is just for her, I've got to go with what makes her feel most comfortable.
Even as a daily driver it wouldn't have seen many miles though. Her current car is 3 years old and only has 14K miles on it; looks brand new.
So, I guess the search is on for a low mileage, automatic C5 coupe. At least it will be a Corvette. She's never owned a Corvette before; just shared in mine.
BTW, if you add a top down tech ($149), you can raise and lower the top w/o getting in/out of the car, making it take less than 10 seconds. I would lower it for a 5 minute drive...
Of course, you can always add a custom hardtop with a larger rear window. Just giving you some options...
Actually, the coupes are nice as well, so you really can't go wrong!

I did a search and came up dry. Can someone provide more info on this "top down tech"? I'm very interested in putting one on my vert when I get it in the spring.
Well, after a couple weeks of looking at regular coupes, we decided to go back to looking at Pace Cars. As of yesterday, my wife is the proud new owner of this:
This one has chrome Z06 style wheels on it which may be growing on us but we really liked the yellow wagon wheels for some reason. The car came with the wagon wheels in boxes but I'm not sure if we will put them on it or not. We may end up trying to get some pace car yellow Z06 wheels on it. We could consider painting these chrome ones but they look too good to screw up.
